The most versatile of the heat-treatable aluminium alloys, Alloy AA 6061 preserves most of the good qualities of aluminium. It is a medium strength structural alloy. This grade has a great range of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. It can be fabricated with most of the commonly used techniques and has good workability in the annealed conditions. It can be welded by all methods and furnace brazed. Because of this, it’s widely used in a wide range of products and applications where appearance and better corrosion resistance with good strength are required
WELDING | Alloy 6061 is readily welded by the MIG and TIG processes. Recommended filler alloy is 5356. Alloy 4043 may also be used for general welding except when welding 6061 to aluminium-magnesium alloys. |
